Mutations in Ride a Pet
Mutations in Ride a Pet include hatch-time upgrades such as Gold, Diamond, and Rainbow, alongside traits gained through weather and the volcano's Magma attempt. Understanding how each is obtained helps you plan which upgrades to pursue for your pets.
Hatched Mutations boost both Money and Speed. Weather Traits follow a separate upgrade rule: a pet can keep one alongside its Hatched Mutation, but cannot carry several Weather Traits at once.
Trait and mutation multipliers
Use this list to compare the supplied multipliers. Magma has a specific volcano method, explained below; it is not obtained in the same way as a random hatch mutation.

For Weather Traits, place pets on your ranch during the corresponding weather event. They have a chance to receive that event's trait; simply placing a pet on the ranch does not guarantee an upgrade.
How to get the Magma Mutation
To attempt Magma, dip an egg into the volcano. Each egg gets one attempt only, so the same egg cannot be repeatedly dipped for another chance.

Magma's listed multiplier is 10x. The extra eight seconds apply only when the attempt succeeds; failure shortens the egg's duration instead.

Hatched Mutations: Gold, Diamond, and Rainbow
A Hatched Mutation can appear when a pet hatches. Its multiplier increases both the pet's Money and Speed, so the benefits are not limited to income.

Gold has the highest listed chance of these three. Rainbow has the largest multiplier, but the lowest normal hatch chance.
These percentages describe the chance of a mutation. They are separate from the chance of hatching a particular pet shown in the pet list.
Admin weather and its effects
The following events are admin-only. They do not start naturally during normal gameplay, and their effects differ from ordinary Weather Traits.

Hatch chances during Mutation Madness
Applying the event's 2x chance modifier to the normal rates gives:

The event doubles the chance of receiving a Hatched Mutation, not the mutation's Money and Speed multiplier. Rainbow remains a 15x mutation; its hatch chance rises from 0.5% to 1% during this event.
How trait stacking and upgrades work
A pet can have one Hatched Mutation and one Weather Trait at the same time. For example, a Gold Hatched Mutation can coexist with a Weather Trait.
Weather Traits have their own replacement rules:
- A pet can hold only one Weather Trait at a time.
- Receiving a higher-tier Weather Trait replaces the weaker one already on the pet.
- A lower-tier Weather Trait cannot overwrite or downgrade a stronger one.
Keeping two types of upgrade at once does not establish how their numerical multipliers combine. This guide does not assume an additive or multiplicative formula for the final result.

Can I retry Magma after a failed attempt?
No. Each egg has only one volcano attempt. Failure returns the egg to your hand with five fewer seconds of duration, but does not give it another attempt.
Which Hatched Mutation has the biggest multiplier?
Rainbow gives the largest listed Hatched Mutation multiplier: 15x Money and Speed. Its normal hatch chance is 0.5%.
Can a pet have Gold and a Weather Trait together?
Yes. A pet can hold one Hatched Mutation, such as Gold, alongside one Weather Trait.
Can weaker weather replace a stronger trait?
No. Lower-tier Weather Traits cannot replace a higher-tier trait. A stronger trait can replace a weaker one.
Does Lucky weather guarantee a mutation?
The listed effect of Lucky is increased Hatch Luck. The event specifically described as boosting Gold, Diamond, and Rainbow mutation odds is Mutation Madness; those chances still remain below 100%.
